Cutting Edge Environmental Research Tailored to Client’s Needs
Unlike other consulting companies, Bird Environmental Consulting Ltd. has the ability to perform a wide range of research projects. Dr. Krista (Krissy) bird has over 20 years of experience with wildlife, genetics, and vegetation experimentation and research, as well as over 40 years of wildlife/species at risk handling, ethical trapping, and wildlife tracking experience. She grew up on a rare and endangered bird farm, which she currently owns and operates. This has provided unparalleled bird handling and behavioural observation opportunities from a young age, which greatly influenced her career as a Wildlife Ecological Geneticist that specializes in genetics, physiology, behaviour, and ecology. Dr. Krissy Bird also began learning trapping and tracking from her Métis father as a small child and became unmatched at visual wildlife ID due to partial loss of hearing during her childhood. Later she started to utilize GIS to examine wildlife habitat use and movement across fragmented landscapes using either just habitat data or habitat data coupled with genetics. This has become Jesse’s specialty since he is a skilled GIS specialist.
Below are a sample of research techniques that we can employ on client projects.
